Vac leak or?

Finaly getting somewhere.
Car will start up upon a second of cranking, then die. then you crank for a good 5-6 seconds and it will fire up. Idles high, starts to seak about a minute into it. Running way rich. If you slowly give throttle by hand, the motor starts to die slowly, rpms fall steadily. If you just rev and let off, it kills the motor.
Sound like a major vac leak or? Going to get new TB gaskets, already got a new PCV valve just to be safe. The start then stop deal... clogged fuel filter?

since you say its running rich, i'd rule out the filter. check your timing, mine acted up somewhat like that before and i found out my timing had decided to change it self.... somehow.--when this happened i could start the car, and as long as i had no load on the engine(didnt drive anywhere) it would rev fine to about 2500rpms.. but when i put it in drive and mashed the throttle anymore than just a tad, it would lose all power and promptly give me a back fire... timing that is wrong makes engines do funny stuff

And wouldn't you know it, I could turn the distrubtor by hand... doh! uggg...
time to re-time that bad boy. Still searches, but when I moved the distributor a bit, the idle smoothed out and it didn't puff black anymore. Still searches, but will rev now, and not die. Still a vac leak somewhere. Going to change the fuel filter just to be safe.. cheap insurance

I love the sound of a lumpy cam dumping into shorty headers... ahh.. rattatatt rattaattaattaatat.
heheh..
