'88 305 TBI smog pump and AC rad questions

These may be weird questions, but firstly I want rid of the smog pump from the passenger side of the engine along with the relative accessories and was wondering if anyone knew of any articles out there that describe the typical procedure for doing so. Tell me if I'm wrong but wouldn't this be a typical exercise if I were putting some aftermarket headers on?

I would also be interested in finding a smaller rad than the current one that connects to the AC accumulator. It is huge and takes up all of the room in front of the normal cooling radiator.

Any information the could be provided for my seemingly weird questions would be greatly recieved. Thanks,

Shane.

There is a tech article in the tech section of this site that discusses how to remove your smog pump. If you want to keep the stock serpantine belt and routing, there is a smog pump delete pulley (p/n 10186167) available from any GM parts counter that you can put in place of the smog pump.

You would not have to remove the smog pump if you got a set of headers that have the AIR tubes on them (i.e. emissions legal headers). Even with non-AIR headers you technically would not have to remove the smog pump, although it would not be doing anything except taking up space so you might as well remove it.

I dunno about the radiator question.
