Think you know your schtuff about steering boxes??...help...

Alright...got an 85 IROC now...gonna take out the power steering and replace with manual box. Crazeinc from this board did this with a box from an S10. I was curious to drive it and see how it was in his car. I would have to say that after driving it I am happy with its ease of turning, but disatisfied with its S10 like feel. You have to turn the wheel what seems like 20 times lock to lock, just as I figured since I own a manual steering 87 S10. My question is this.... Is there a box that comes manual from a GM car that will fit my camaro and have a relatively similiar ratio and not turn my Roc into a semi.

thanks, and all help will be appreciated.
Randy

oh and before you ask, this car has lost ALL creature comforts and there is no reason to not turn back now, so leaving the PS on is outta the question

They have to be like that otherwise you would never be able to turn the wheel. Do you have pizza cutters up front?

The short answer is: no. If you want to know what a high ratio box without power assist feels like then just take the belt off your power steering pump. You'll soon grow tired of sawing on that wheel.
