Question about fast burn heads
Question about fast burn heads
I just took my Ram Jet 350 crate motor apart and sold the Vortech heads. I got my fast burn heads today to go on it and I was wondering if I can use the same pushrods and rocker arms. Anyone know?

not sure of the componets of vortec and wont try and act like i do but,.. i do know on my sportsman2 heads they are fast burn chambers and they use hardened pushrods and are standard length and regular screw-in studs and guide plates but.. not sure if those pushrods are they same length as vortecs?? and the rocker arms on vortecs might be the self-alginig type , not sure on them. if i remember right the vortecs ARE the same, but, not 100% sure.

Joe, I copied this off pace Chevrolet's web page. From what I reading, I think you'll be ok, just use hardened pushrods.

Good info Tracy. I appreciate it. From the sound of things, I should be alright. No reason to use hardened pushrods if Im not using guide-plates, right? Should I be using guideplates? Its probably gonna be spun to about the 5800-6000 range.

If you haven't really changed the rocker ratio over the Vortecs, I bet you'll be ok. For that setup, you probably can get by with the rockers and pushrods you have.
Good luck and may see you at cruise night soon.
later man!
