code 34 - help!
the dreaded check engine light just came on for me after some unusual performance from my car over the past few days. the car will bog out, much like hitting a governor between 3-4k, usually in 2nd gear, although it has done it in 3rd aswell. my revs jump up and down when i'm coasting with the clutch in too.
i whipped out the paperclip and came up with a code 34, maf signal high, flow low. has anyone else ever had this? is this a bad maf or is there anything else i should try before just replacing it?
the car is an '86, 2.8 mpfi.

Unplug the sensor and see if the engine runs better. If it does, swap the relay located next to the sensor (or in the corner where the rad support meets the headlight mount for a Camaro) with the one for the fuel pump located on the firewall. If this solves the problem, go ahead and get a new relay. If this doesn't cure the problem, have the MAF checked and/or replaced. Might also try resetting the ECM before starting this to see if there is some error or something in the memory.
