Quick check before I put the motor in
Alright I am assembling the rest of my motor this week and I am putting it in on saturday so I wanted to make sure Ive got everything right before I get to work. Ok I have 416 heads and i am running self aligning rocker arms with them so I know I have to bore out the push rod holes a little. Can I use the regular push rods that cam with my 010 350 with self aligning rocker arms? Second what are the torque specs for the bolts that attach the timing chain to the cam? Will the oil pan that came in mid 70s chevy trucks with the 010 350 clear my cross member? I know these questions are a kinda stupid but Ive been second guessing myself all week and I need someone else to re-assure me. Thanks guys.
I believe that the only "stock" pan that will work is the ones intended for the thirdgen F-body. You can get them new for about $70, or if you can weld you might be able to modify the one you have. I have also been told that miloden (sp) makes a deep sump pan that will fit around the K-member.
I also have one for sale off of an 85 Z-28 that is almost new. I think it will work with all SBC blocks pre 86 or so. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in it.

A truck pan will probably not fit. It will hit the Y-pipe, and probably sit on the frame.
A thirdgen oil pan will defintiely not fit. All of those are for pass side dipstick, and your 010 block has the driver's side variety.
You need a 2nd gen Camaro one, or a A/G body one. Has to be for about 77-back, and about 69-up.
The one I like to use is the old 6-quart system Z28 pan. That one requires a windage tray though.

So are you sure that a 2nd gen camaro pan will fit? I figured that I would have to get a new one. What about the pushrods.

or, find a corvette pan. my 010 350 350 came from a 78 vette. vettes are set up similar to our cars in the engine bay... just more room up front, more out to the sides.

Alright I ordered a wysco pan from jegs and I think they gave me the wrong one. It said it will fit any sbc up to 79 and I just got it in today and it has a passenger side dipstick. So the 010 350 is made for the drivers side right?AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH.

I'm using a generic el-cheapo chrome oil pan that you can pick up in any auto parts store aisle on my engine. It is a '79 350 block and with the driver's side dipstick and the pan fits my y-pipe fine. Looks like they sent you a newer model pan. What year is the block you are using..... mid 70s?

Yes I am sure the 2nd gen pan fits.... it was in my car for about 10 or 12 years, on a 400.
Yes, the 010 has the original dip stick location. They changed it over from about 78-80 in the various car lines.

Well I got the right oil pan and put in my cam and bolted on the heads friday night, and then this mourning I put the motor back in my car. Only took me about two hours to bolt the transmission to the engine and throw them both back in the car. now all I have to do is put my rockers on, intake(ordered it today), hook up a few hoses etc., and set my fuel system up for a carb and I am going to be back on the street. Thanks for your help guys.

By the way, good ole regular sbc early style oil pan fits right up in our cars. I don't know what the rest of you had problems with but I've used two on my 350 and 383 and they both fit perfect, drivers hand dip stick.
