noise from trans?

last night I was racing an ls1 Z28 and he started to pull away wich is odd but, I decided to run him again same thing happened then, when I was comming to a stop I heard a noise like as if my out put shaft on the trans was just slopin around in the trans. so I spent a good amout of time trying to figure out if it was really the trans or rear end or ujoints. so tired and pissed I put it in the garage then to day I went out and jacked up the rearend of the car and have a look and see. the ujoints looked good and I put it in nuteral and spun the drive shaft and I could not hear any thing. so I sun the rear end still nothing gettin pissed now I secured the car sat (INSIDE the car) and drove it to a tire speed of 25 mph sliped it to N and listend still nothing drovit to 25mph again shut it off in N and listend still noting to make this long story shorter I drove the car and still found nothing. what could have it been and why did it go away over night? also this is a wc t-5 trans

88,

I've had tailshaft bushings that have been worn enough to start making noise when hot and under heavy loads, but the noise would disappear when the load was light or the trans was cold. You might want to look for excessive play there.

You might want to look at the torque arm bushings while you're there, and check for play at the input pinion of the diff.

it was strange because it sounded like a shaft rotating and it would decrease as speed decreased. very constant like a blown tire. do you think the ujoints are dry? Im sure if I spun a bearing in the trans it would sound like crap all the time and the shifter should have transmitted it to my hand.
