Put in a larger crank. Example; what I did was I took a 350 block and put in a 400 crank and after some boring I had a 383.
I belive that if you take a 305 block and a 350 crank you get a 327.
Your stroking it with a larger crank. You can also destroke; 400 block and 350 crank to get 383.

No, putting a 350 crank in a 305 will do nothing. The 350 and 305 have the same stroke. The difference is the 305 has a 3.76" bore and the 350, 327, and the 302 all have the 4.00" bore. You will have to pull your engine and dissasemble it down to the bare block to install the new crank, its a pretty big job, one that I would only take on if you know for sure what you are doing.

The 400 crank will need to have the mains machined down to fit in the 305/350 block. You also need the 400's balancer and flex plate since it is externally balanced. You can use the 305/350's standard pistons if you use the 400's shorter 5.56 rods. If you use the longer 5.7 rods then you'll need special stroker pistons. Using the longer rods will also require having the block clearanced to make sure the rod bolts don't hit the block.
Stroking a 305 and .030 is 334
Stroking a 350 and .030 is 383
If you're going to ruin a 400 crank by having it machined down to make a stroker then just build a 400. You'll get the longer stroke plus an even bigger bore. A .030 over 400 is 406.

It really wouldn't be worth stroking your 305. There's about a thousand other things that are easier that you can do to improve the performance of that LG4 of yours. If you're thinking about going through the hassle of replacing the crank, you might as well just throw a 350 in there while you have the engine out. You'd probably get more power anyway.

Sorry Stephen, But i think you meant rods. Not trying to slam, just avoiding some confusion.
Also, i was under the impression that a 400 crank wouldn't fit in a 305 block because of oil passages. I may be wrong, anyone know???
