weird ignition probs?

I'm not sure what I did, or what happened, but after digging out the car after a brief winter storage (2 months of sitting) I fired it up with an ignition miss, like I have a plug wire crossed, which I dont, the wires are new, cap is new, rotor, control unit are new, spark plugs are new. It lacks power and changes to the timing has little or no effect on how it runs.

Secondly, when I got shut the car off, the engine will continue to run (as if the ignition is still on) for a few seconds then it shuts off normally. not the normal deisel run on.

could these two problems be related?

Dude, I had the same problem about 2 months ago. Once the car started I had to power brake it like crazy to get just 1 block. Then taking the key out should have turned off th car and in your case as well it didn't.
It turns out that the actual distibuter was rusted and BAD, basically...had to be rebuilt. So I rebuilt it, changed the ignition module also and after that, the car worked mint. Try checking your new cap and rotor, maybe something there isn't right.

Otherwise...your going to have to check the distributer, keep us posted.
