Fuel Coolers

Has anyone used one of teh fuel coolers that uses ice to cool down fuel? Do they work and how much do they improve horsepower?

I think it would reduce vapor lock more than it would help horsepower. Youd have to add more air to go along with the theoretical increase in fuel to get more power.

Yes they work.

They're good for about a .25% increase in HP, maybe.

Totally undetectable, unless you're in one of those classes where the guy in the other lane has a car that's absolutely identical to yours in every way, and his driving techinque is as good as yours (like, he cuts a .502 tree and runs a 11.83 with a 2 on his 11.83 dial-in, to your .501 tree and 11.84 with a 5 on the same dial-in).

In other words, you probably won't get a whole lot out of it, if you're like most of us. It's ALOT of maze with very little cheese at the end.

There's alot of things you can do for alot less money that wil produce alot more results.

Just curious. Seemed like a bunch of lies to me just being sure. Don't worry, I wouldn't dare waste my money on stupid things like this and other "quick horsepower" jokes.

It's not a joke, by any means. Don't get me wrong. It's just a very small thing, that by itself doesn't do a whole lot; but if you're in one of those classes where the cars are real close, and the drivers are real good, and you've already done every other little tiny thing you can think of just to keep up, and the rules allow it and the prize money justifies the expense, then it makes enough difference to be worth doing. For a street car, you'll get alot more bang for the trouble, by using whatever ice you can manage to scare up at the track, to ice down the intake manifold between rounds. AFAIK there's never a rule against that since it doesn't go down the track.
