Broken distrib gear teeth

Take a look at the attached pic, this is my distrib gear after about ~3000 miles. This SHOULD be a gear for roller cams, metaloized(sp?) I believe. The broken teeth seem to be from the high wear, but why did it wear so fast? My only guess is too soft of a gear, I though I found the correct part numbers from this board. I did a quick visual of the cam gear and it looks ok, but is it ok?

I am running a Melling M-55 with Mr. Gasket high pressure spring, ARP oil pump driveshaft, and mobil 10w30 dyno oil.

After image processing it so that I can actually see it, it almost looks like you have a gear for a .500" shaft that's been running on a .437" shaft.

I think you are exactly right RB, ID on the gear's hole is .5. Looks like I need to do some better research. This rebuild has unfortunately seen a steady amount of shavings in the oil.

Not trying to hijack the post, just want to make sure I'm not doing the same thing.
So what your saying is that there are differant size dist. shafts?
I would really like to know before I start this thing.
I'm got an 84 CC dist. and I ordered the melonized gear from SDPC.

Thanks,Don
