Fuel pump won't turn off?

I tried a search but couldnt find an answer. When I turn my 89 IROC off (all stock everything, L98 TPI) the fuel pump does not turn off. I can hear that the pump is still on. If I turn the car on again, and then turn it off again the pump turns off sometimes. If not, I unplug the battery and it turns off (of course haha). The car exhibits no abnormal driving conditions, starts fine, runs fine. Do you guys think the fuel pump staying on is an indication that it is on its way out? Or a possible electrical issue somewhere in the car? Car has 114k miles and the fuel pump looks like the OEM unit. Trying to prepare for a problem before it happens hehe. Thanks for any info you guys might have.

The only way a pump can remain on is if the power doesn't shut down with the key.
Sounds like a relay sticking on.

Unplug the relay, see if it quits. If it doesn't then the oil pressure switch is sticking.

Search for a diagram and you'll see. They are available.

You ever figure this problem out? Mine just started doing it with the new engine.. Well actually, I was cranking the motor over by shorting the solenoid (ford solenoid) and the pump would kick on (key out of ignition) I don't see how thats possible with the ignition turned off, because those relays should not be energized at all..
