I need a little info please

ok I know this isn't excatly third gen related, but I've got a friend that has a 2nd gen T/A that he got from a junkyard, the j/y didn't have the title and the dmv can't tell him who the previous owner was. how would he go about finding out who the prev owner was or how would he get a title for it. any help is appreciated

btw its a salvage title not a junk title

They have no title for it
But its a salvage title

That makes no sense, do they have a title or not? Some states let you title a car if it has been abandond.

yep it doesn't make much sense that it doesn't have a title but it does have a title. try carfax for the history on the car.

sorry for the confusion

let me try again, he got the car from a junk yard, he has a bill of sale from them, however the j/y did not have the title, to get plates the dmv needs a title. so since the j/y didn't have it he has to go to the prev owner and the dmv won't tell him who it is. so how would he find out who the prev owner was? and how could he get tags for it was considerd abandond?

You have to talk to the DMV about the abandond thing, and see what the state law is. Its usually somthing if it sits more than 5 years and noone claims it, you can title it. As for the previous owner, the junkyard should have a record, if not you SOL.

Found this real quick, I'd suggest you scope it out.

I might just keep editing this all day.

This is probably what you will need to look into. Mn state requirments for salvage/rebuild title.
