Need references for ram/reversion tuning (Hemholtz effect)
I am looking for any reference/physics/performance books/links dealing with intake and exhaust tuning, in particular anything that clearly references and defines tube and ram tuning. So far all I have found is that the phenomenon is called the Hemholtz effect, and IROCKZ4me was kind enough to forward the name of one of the books I have been looking for. For anyone interested:
The Scientific Design of Exhaust and Intake Systems
by: Philip Hubert Smith & John C. Morrison
ISBN: 0837603099
I have done a few searches on the net, however, I have not found anything of relevance. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

You can also learn about the Helmholtz effect & resonate tuning in audio/acoustic engineerig books. Especially ones with sections (or entire content) on speaker enclosure design (particularly port tuned {ported} enclosures). The same formulas apply.

You can get a little info here, http://pdmec8.mecc.unipd.it/~cos/DIN...suonatore.html
Mostly relating to helmholtz resonators pertaining to intake ports, plenums & intake tract acoustic dampers.
Just out of curiosity, are you designing an intake system, writing a term/technical paper, or an article?

SHAWEEEETTT!!!
Actually I have two or three designs for intakes I'm working on. I just need to find somewhere around here to pop a dyno tune for a day that won't cost me a weeks pay!

Does it involve a "fluid" intake runner design?

RD,
I'll bet you're getting all stiff and wet over that last site - there's a lot of good data there...

Actually, if you want you can e-mail me and we can play again (hell I always l;ike to bounce ideas around). I think in my last e-mail to you I alluded to the two concepts I will be exploring, and I think we touched on your project and the one I had hacked on a few years back. Go with the hogged out SLPs and reweld the inlets, you'll like!

Vader, yea thats the idea. I was hoping I could save some time and effort, and 'borrow' a section of a part from another car, but Brand F and Brand C dont mix well sometimes. Guess I have to take the long route, unless RD is already where I was headed.
That website... I tried reading that, and gave up LOL! Maybe in about 6 months....
RD Ill send ya an email.

I reserve my rights under pains and penalties of the law and only offer a 'No Comment'. I just have to figure out some of the graphical references now. There goes my weekend.

Don't forget to check with the libraries of universities, colleges, tech schools, etc. I wouldn't hold my breath, but Ebay might be useful.
