6, 8 or 10 degrees, and always use 92 octane or better. You should set the timing at whichever level gives you no knock or ping.

actually chris, l think you should keep the timing where it's factory setting, somewhere like 6 degrees advanced l beleive, if you change the timing, its going to require more octane, its going to be a little bit rougher on the motor itself, and its gonna be a little rough on the computer, and you won't actually notice a difference, not to mention youre going to get a slight drop in fuel economy, after adjusting the timing, the car may run decent for a few days, but it will stutter, and run rough after time, your best bet is to leave the timing at stock settings and instead, buy a good chip for your 305, youll actually notice a difference with the chip
