non-third gen advice needed!!!!
Hey guys, I'm getting ready to pull the motor out of my nephews 95 corsica and am wondering if anybody has any tips or suggestions on problem areas, I'm going to rebuild the motor as he managed to get some water in the oil, he swears it didn't overheat but non the less there is water in there. any usual problem areas that might cause this,(cracked head, cracked block, head gasket)????
just to keep it third gen related, I pulled it home with the trailer I use to pull my thirdgen race car. LOL

What engine is in it? 2.2 or 3.1? It's a pretty easy FWD engine to pull either way.
If it's a 3.1, the oil very possibly came from the intake gasket. I'm pretty sure they started using the gasket that is plastic with O-ring type seals molded into it in 94. The gaskets tend to break down around the coolant passages, and you get coolant leaking to the outside of the head to intake area, but it will sometimes leak into the oil. These heads sometimes crack, so pressure testing and milling are a good idea.
If it's a 2.2, they leak coolant, usually externally from the head gasket. Very easily could be leaking into the oil return passage. If it is a 2.2, count on replacing the head. They almost always crack. Make sure you at least have it pressure tested and milled. There are many aftermarket sources for these cylinder heads that are better castings, and much cheaper than GM.
Good luck!
