what is diffrent the chip or the computer for the ( auto to 5 speed swap?)

what is diffrent the chip or the computer for the ( auto to 5 speed swap?)
I swapped out teh auto along time ago but now I was wondering I know the chips are diffrent but could you use a 5 speed chip in the auto computer or do I have to use the 5 speed chip and the 5 speed computer? Thanks I got a computer for the same car and as mine except it has a 5 speed.Thanks

The computers are the same for 5-speed and automatic. The PROM is different. With a 5-speed PROM it wont tell the torque converter to lock up, so it'll be slipping creating heat. You'll also lose gas mileage. I think a new PROM is $30 or so from GM, so its not that expensive.
