Tada!!!! Gettin' Closer ---please advise
OK, for those not familiar, I've had trouble with a warm idle ever since a cam and intake swap. I've rechanged the intake gasket, and swapped out all of the distributor components and plugs twice (due to fouling).
Then after that the new ignition module went out. Changed that today.
The car starts and idles now, but doesn't idle real well.
I've discovered that the tuned vac port on my cc carb must be going out or something, because it's not consistent and it's affecting the idle and advance. With it disconnected the idle is steadier, but still fluctuates.
I'm pretty sure that it is a problem in the carb, not the ignition. Check this out and see if I'm right.
When the car is warm, and idling at about 750 to 800 (it's not real consistent) with the vac disconnected from the distributor, the idle fluctuates. While testing the timing with the timing gun, the timing doesn't change, it's locked on 8* regardless of wether or not the idle speed is 800 or 500.
Is that something going wrong with either fuel supply or the carb itself?
I've learned a little about my holley carb, so I'm going to try that out in about an hour.
I apologize for so many posts, but as my diagnosis goes on, I feel that there's not much need to read the other stuff that's now working fine.

I've got the float valve as low as I can set it in the secondaries of my holley, but some fuel still floods in.
I still can't get this thing to idle when warm no matter what I try. I'd assume that at this point it is probably just a matter of tuning everything, but haven't had any luck yet.
Any suggestions on where I may be going wrong?

You say "some fuel still floods in"... it's not supposed to do anything of the kind. Where is this fuel flooding in from, and to?

RB,
The fuel comes in through the secondaries, through or around (can't tell) the air horns or whatever they are called. I've got a 4011 series holley if that helps.
It doesn't change the symptoms of the car however.
I do notice a very high temperature (to the touch) in the engine compartment still, but it's probably just because the cam isn't broken all of the way in yet.
I'm about ready to try an entire new distributor. What do you think?

Fuel isn't supposed to "flood in" from anywhere. If it's doing that, the carb is fornicated.
I'd leave the distributor alone until a known good carb is tried out first.

RB,
That's what I'm going to have to do. I switched back to the CC carb, and it idles so inconsistently, has a constant vac on the tuned port, and is basically worthless!!!!
What can I say. It did work fine with the stock set up even without the computer. I did notice that now it isn't running rich like it should be!!!
I just don't want to drop about 300 bucks on something that won't fix my problem. I guess a distributor will cost nearly that anyhow.......man oh man.
I wish I had the dead presidents to get myself one of those road demons 625's. Man those are nice!!!
