Starting problem...???
I have a weird starting problem maybe someone here can help
....while ago go to start car and car wouldnt turn over...odd..but i try for 3 min and no sings of start...waited 2 hours come back...starts right up....did it a couple days later...started after waiting 5 minutes...did it another day..kept trying it all day..go back in morning and..vroooom, starts. Then i tried something one time when the car wouldnt start..hmm ill chekc for spark...so take out spark plug..(not number one, but number 5 i think..first one on left side) and had someone tap it up against manifold as if checking for spark..3 truns then vroom starts up..hey ya it started...then everytime after that...this is a frequent thing..like 4-5 times a week..when car dont start..lean spark plug up against manifold and vroom it starts...today..car no start...pull out plug on manifold and nothing happen
...2 hours later when i ready for work...starts right up....

By "wouldn't turn over", do you mean it wouldn't start? Typically, when we say it won't "turn over", we mean the starter does not make the crankshaft turn. I'm guessing you mean the starter turns the crankshaft, but the engine doesn't start.
Okay, assuming that's the case...
Sounds like you have an ignition component with a faulty electrical path. When it heats up, the part expands, the path opens and the component doesn't function. When it cools down, the part contracts, the path closes again, and the part again functions.
Typically, the components that act that way are the coil and ignition control module.

Wait, do you really have an LT1 350? As in, from a 4th gen f-body or '94-later Caprice/Impala?
In that case, "Optispark" is all you need to know.

If by some chance you mean that the starter is not even turning over the engine, check your ground wires. I had a similar problem and it got better (not totally cured) when I cleaned the battery post ground and where it attached on the other end of the cable. Eventually I replaced the starter and that totally cured it.
If you mean it is turning over but not starting, never mind!

Yes it is making the riceroo riceroo riceroo sound but not starting. And i have a 3rd gen and a 4th gen..3rd gen has prob..4th gen has the lt1-350 with t56 trans. and 4:10 posi. Runs like a dream and fast
....the 3rd gen is my prob...its a stock 305 with carberator....ok what you said bout the thing expanding when it is hot and all that rubber jubber.....it cant be that because it does it first thing in the morning sometimes...therefore it hasnt been started for over 10 hours..??? I was thinkin on replacing the ignition module though....andmore ideas people??

It could still be that problem. Coil & module are the most likely suspects. Not a bad idea to replace them both, as one going bad has been known to take out the other - you replace only one, and the still bad one takes out the other new one.
