Help desperately needed w/ plenum/runner gaskets

Is there any easier way to clean the gasket surfaces of the intake manifold and runners when I'm changing fuel injectors? Solvents, orbital sander, etc.? Spending the last three hours with a putty knife was kinda counterproductive. Why the hell didn't GM use those kind of gaskets like for the throttle body that just peel right off? Damnit! Thanks guys.

use a wire brush attached to a grinder that works well. but dont get to carried away on the aluminum or it might not seal. it only take about 10 min this way. just blow it out when your done.

or you can use a rag with GOOF OFF on it. Available at Walmart, Sears, Lowest etc.

I just went through this on my Formula. No chemical I tried would even touch the stuff on the manifold to runner gaskets. I ended up getting a 3M scotchbrite gasket remover disc setup from the parts store. Was like $15, but I was done in 10 minutes or so. I figured scotchbrite was easier on the aluminum than a wire brush. I really needed it for the heads, but used it on the manifold too. Just be careful on the aluminum, you could easily take off metal!

Craig has a point. I forgot to take into considerations my gaskets were fairly new .

If you already bought the Goof Off dont worry. It comes in handy all the time
