1984 Z28 305 smoke from carb!!
Hi all,
I posted this in the carburetor section and didn't really get any information. So I thought I would post it here.
I took my 1984 Z28 into be smogged and they REALLY messed it up! The smoke started after I picked it up from getting it smogged. I haven't driven her since. BTU yes it did pass smog and I did take it right back to the shop and the manager blew me off!!
I have replaced all the vacuum lines, new distributor, plugs, wires, changed canister vacuum filter, PVC etc... Which needed to be done anyway.
The problem is I can't get the idle correct and there is smoke coming out of the carburetor. I'm real sure it's not suppose to do this
I really need help with this, if I need to take it into a shop, it would really help if I knew what to tell them. Also what type of shop to take her to.
Thanks in Advance!!!

Sorry you didn't feel like we were being helpful over there.
Ask around about reliable shops for older cars. Look in the Yellow Pages under "Automotive Repair" for shops in your area. Call and talk to them about your problem to get an idea which one gives you the best "warm fuzzy" (you'd be surprised how much you can tell about a shop just by doing that). Check with the local BBB to verify their integrity.
When you decide on a shop, tell them exactly what you've told us here.
I'm afraid long distance diagnositics isn't going to be able to do much better. If you don't believe me, try calling Click & Clack on Saturday morning and see how well they do (if they even take your call).
