My NEW problem

Welp, I finally got my car to at least start. Just changed the distributor, coil, fuel pump, ECM, mem-cal, and he thermostat. Here's my new problem. I start the car up, it drives fine for about a minute and a half, then once it starts warming up, it cuts off like it's running out of gas.

So, yeah...let's hear the ideas.

Could be the ignition control module, usually they go out and its like turning off the switch but I have seen a few that stop working when they get hot. What exactly does the car do when it gets warm. Take it off and run to autozone they have a tester get the guy to run the test several times it should heat up and show problems if that is it, but I would go ahead and replace it its only like 15 dollars.

thought of something else what is your oil pressure reading, pay attention to that if the sender is bad and its reading 0 or drops to 0 the computer on some cars will shut off the engine.

is the car a TPI or TBI 305 or 350 ?

Ok, car's a 305 TPI. Here's a rundown of what I've changed recently. Keep in mind, until two days ago, the car was getting no spark and would not sart (bad distributor)
I've changed the coil, disributor, ignition module, computer, Mem-cal, fuel pump, fuel filter, starter, alenator, battery. I think that's it. I've dumped a ton of money into the car, some to get it running right. Some just to replace some old parts so the new owner doesn't have to deal with it. (I will be selling the car after it runs right and I put a new top on it. I want a 2nd gen Trans Am)

try seeing what the coolant temp sensor reads via a scan tool, I have had the same problem and the car thought the coolant was -40 or something like that and dumped in more fuel when it was actually warm. And no checking the guage on the dash does not work, there actually 2 coolant temp sensors, one for the computer and one for the guage, the computer one is located above the water pump on the intake. Good luck.

Hmm...Upon replacing the sarter today, I noticed a sensor that was completely melted off the engine. I don't quite recall where exactly it was, but the wire going to it was dangling with about half the sensor on it. Being under the car, and looking directly up at the starter I could see it. Quite hard to reach, but it's there. Does this sound like what you're talking about? I was going to ask my mechanic what it is on Monday, and go from there.

From what you describe that sounds like your cooling fan thermo switch, do you have 1 fan or 2, if you have 2 that that controlls the secondary fan. But thats not the coolant temp sensor for the computer, that is located on the front of the intake by the water pump.

On the 91 TPI there are 2 sensors on the passenger's side. The knock sensor is just above and maybe a little towards the front of the starter. It actually threads into the block. The temp sensor for the 2nd fan is in the head between and slightly below the #6 and #8 spark plugs.
