1982 Camaro Berlinetta

Hey everyone, I have a 1982 Camaro Berlinetta. I am looking to sell it but not sure how much to ask for it. It runs pretty good, recently it seems to take a little more to get it started on the really hot days. The back wheel is bent a little so it bounces a little when I accelerate from a stop. Gets up to speed good. Only gets 13 MPG. The speedometer stopped last summer with about 131,000 miles and I only drive it to and from work (60 miles) 5 days a week. Other then that I love the car but I want something newer and with rising gas prices better millage. I'll include a picture. Hope to hear from someone soon. If you don't know but know how I can find out that would be great too. I checked kbb.com (Kelly Blue Book) but they only have as late as 1984.

Thank you!
Mellissa

Its very hard to tell how much you should ask from the pics. But I will say that painting the wheels silver will help a whole lot in getting a better price for the car. That red paint is nasty. Just my opinion though.

EDIT: You can also get the correct center caps for the wheels from "Classic Industries" for not too much money if you buy a generic cap.

Painting the wheels and buying the caps might cost you $50.00 but it will fetch you more in the long run.

Hi, yeah I'm not a big fan of the red either, lol..my dad and brother did that when they got it ready for me. I wasn't sure what color to repaint them but then I saw another camaro with silver wheels and decided that I wanted to paint them silver(still have to do it though). I actually already have the center caps on now, I didn't have them at the time that I took those pics but they are on now.
Wow, $3,000 is more than I was thinking....I figured $2,000 if I was lucky. I hate to get rid of it but i'm driving 60 miles a day and don't want it to break down.
The body is in excellent condition, it's never been in a wreck..there's one small crack on the back bumper, other than that it's perfect. My dad put alot into it and made it stronger little over a year ago.

Those aren't the right wheels for a Berlinetta. The originals were a sort of cast turbine design, painted gold.

Those wheels are really extremely hideously sore-thumb ugly on that car. They make the car, which isn't a great car but isn't too bad either, look like a theft recovery or a junkyard special. You'll have a much easier time selling it if the wheels don't mismatch the car so bad.

I can't imagine getting $2000 for that car, unless it's really cherry inside. People can't even sell the desirable cars like Z28s and Trans Ams for that kind of money. I think you'll get no more than $1200 for it like it sits, maybe $1500 with wheels that don't scream "I'm the wrong ones for this car!!!" so loud.

The main selling points for that car when it was new were its appearance options and its creature comforts. That model was marketed toward people that wanted the "youth" or "performance" image, but didn't really want a performance car. They were especially aimed at the young female market (like 16-25). Think of what such a person would be looking for in a car, and make yours match that goal as closely as possible.

The little gold pinstripes in the taillights was part of the trim that the car came with, that set it apart from the plain Sport Coupe. It had a bunch of gold accent stuff. The most popular color of that car IIRC was a sort of midnight metallic blue, with of course the gold trim. Here's one from the readers' rides section of this board that still has most of its original trim. It would be easier to imagine what it really looked like if it didn't have that thing draped across the nose; but the car looks like it's all there, with most if not all of its original trim. https://www.thirdgen.org/rides/index...ew&rideid=8945

A view of another https://www.thirdgen.org/rides/index...ew&rideid=3300

All of the emblems are gold colored as well. I don't have the orginal tailights, as the car had been rearended (which I didn't realize until I owned it), and the proper ones weren't put back in.

The rims are in the garage attic right now. I never did have the proper center caps (~$35 a piece to replace).

BTW, the gold on the rims is anodize, not paint.

nice car five7kid. The paint job was never finished on my car... I needed it so soon that my dad never got to put the finish coat on, and now it needs alot of touch up work. Then I can put all the emblems back on too Another question.... is there a certain glue we should use to put the emblems on or something else to use?? Where can I get new wheels at a low low price??
