The return line (the one with the hose clamps) has very little pressure, you could put one there. The factory put one on alot of these cars; it's a piece of tubing that loops across the car below the radiator. Very simple, better than nothing I guess.

Is that what that b@stard piece of tubing is!? I was just pondering over that thing the other day, wondering why GM would have done such a thing. Now I know..Thanks RB!

I snagged that loop of tubing along with the bottom fan mounting bracket from the car I got the fan setup from. I just wonder how much it helps, and if it is even needed.

That factory p/s cooler wasn't on my '84 parts car, but it's on my '86, if that helps determine the year of change...

Tom P,

My 84 Z has a power steering pump cooler!!!

So, maybe it was an option for a package or something like that?

Mine has it. Doesn't look like it'd cool much of anything though. How hot does PS fluid get anyway? Maybe on a race car revving over 4K alot, but on a street car? It might be something they did with cars with optional tires (235's/245's) because of the increased turning effort required, and the soccer moms who stop all the way to turn the wheels lock to lock.
