Lifter bore misalignment to the cam (very common in older blocks), over-revving with inadequate valve springs, too much cam with inadequate valve springs

i'm thinking it could be misaligned lifter bores. with the new cam i havn't even reved it much, the old can was real small, and the new cam is a comp XE262. i wouldn't think it could be the valve springs because its both on only the #8 cylinder, but i guess its a posibility.

On a flat tappet cam/ valvetrain setup the lifter spins in the bore and the cam lifts it up and down.
If something causes the lifter to not be able to spin in its bore the lifter face and cam lobe will soon fail.

I'd say on a smaller cam like that it was an installer problem. Of course it wouldent be the first time a comp cam that was installed correctly went flat.

i think its bad cam bearings. thats the only thing that would have much to do with the oil pressure and it would explain the lobes going flat if the cam is moving around.
