Week 4 in trying to fix my son's car.....getting real frustrated. Car overheated four weeks ago and blew a head gasket. My son's father broke car down and replaced head gasket. Also decided to replace sparks plugs/wires, rotor and cap. After putting the car back together, at first the car would crank but not start. After testing all ignition parts discovered problem being a bad/worn wires on the distributor. Replace the distributor and car started right up. Now car runs very rough during idle. Drove the car around the block and still drives rough. Have recheck timing - all OK. Check for vaccum leaks. Discovered several bolts not tighten. Re-tighten all bolts. Replaced vaccum lines. Car still runs very rough. Seems to be also running very rich. Car is also overheating still. Replaced thermatic with 170 and 180. Nothing seems to help. Getting so frustrated.....and running out of options. Would appreciate any help or ideas as to what else can be checked. Wandering if the car has serious problem like a crack head?
