how to plug a rubber hose?

hey i have this i think its 3/4" hose that tee's off the return line to the radiator. i think it went to the heater control valve. anyways, i had just cut the hose at the base, and i need a more permanent solution to plugging it. those push/pull bottle caps arent doing it anymore, they keep opping out after about a month and i lose all my coolant.

You can use a pipe plug or a big 'ol bolt. Just make sure you use a hose clamp on whatever you shove into it.

Black hose plug (or bolt if you like) and a clamp.

you can:
  • get a lil plug cover (like you said you had) and put a hoseclamp on it
  • you could get a rubber stopper like this.. one that tightens with a nut... id use one with a regular nut, not a wing nut, but you get the idea: http://www.acehardware.com/product/i...entPage=search
  • put a piece of hose on it, then stick a bolt in the other side (buy one if you have to.. its only 15cents. ) and do it that way.
  • you could take the radiator out, cut the nipple off, and using epoxy and possibly steel mesh, cover the hole, sand it paint it, and it will look like it was never there.
