84 Z28 w/350?

Hi all I dont know much about the older f-bods but im going to look at a 84 Z28 that is said to have a 350 with a 5sp. Is this a rare car at all? And when I tried to look up the value of it, it only gave me 1 engine choice (305). So my qustion is did they put a 350 in that years Z28?

Thanks all

The only V8 in 1984 was the 305. Many of them (mine included) had larger engines put in by their owners.

The factory put no 350s whatsoever in 84 Z28s. However, it's very easy for somebody else to have done that. It happens all the time.

My 83 has a 400 in it. Needless to say, the factory didn't put that in there, either.

If you find a 84-Z28 with a factory 350 in it, it would be so rare that the factory didn't know they built it. I have a 84Z with a 350 in it but I put it there. Only 305's in them sorry!

Thanks all I did end up buying the car and it does have only a 305 in it. What kind of power numbers does this car have?

If you have the LG4, 150 HP @ 4000 RPM and 240 lb.ft @ 2400 RPM. If it's the "H.O." L69 then its 190 HP @ 4800 RPM and 240 lb.ft @ 3200 RPM.

Assuming everything's in good stock condition, of course.

Most likely you have some tune up issues... about 120HP and 220TQ. Lots of things to do to bump that number up quickly though: Performer aluminum intake, Headers/exhaust, and 1.6 roller rockers. New plugs/wires/cap/coil is also another thing that's cheap, easy, and offers a good bit of maintinance.
