gas problems

I think im havin a problem with fuel dilivery. Im noticing gas coming out the exust pipes thats more than normal. Im also hearing a squeking sound coming from the engine when i rev it up. If any one knows about this please help me.

P.s: Could it be the fuel filter??

I would suspect the two problems are not directly related.

The amount of gas exiting the exhaust is dependent upon engine RPM, throttle opening, and exhaust restriction. The ODOR of the gas coming out is a different matter. If you are smelling excessively rich exhaust, you may have too much fuel for the volume of air entering the engine, or a failing catalytic converter. The excess fuel could be caused by anything from leaking injectors or faulty ECM to a clogged air filter, dirty PCV valve, or weak oxygen sensor.

The squeal at higher RPM is usually either a belt slipping or accessory unit bearing (like air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, air pump water pump, etc.) failing.

Can you provide any more information on the state of tune of the engine, modifications, etc?

Well i have just purchased this veichle so i am making small tune ups here and there pay check to pay check. so far i put new air filters, spark plugs, new belts, and a new fuel filter that i havent put on yet. Im still unsure what else i can put on it to make it run better. I think the spark plugs for some reason stoped the heistating on accelerating in 2nd gear i cant imagine it helping this but it stopped after i put them in. I think the strong smell of gas is due to bypassing the smog pump when i put the belts on. I only did this because it passed e check with out it and it gives u more HORSEPOWER! THanks for the help. Any more suggestions are a lot of help.

When you finally get it fully tuned and save a little more money, hop on a treadmill dyno and see just how much HP you are "gaining" by not having the A.I.R. pump connected. You might be disappointed.
