TFS G 1 ,valve to piston clearance

I have put 1,6 roller rockers, and I didnīt
think about the increase in lift as big as
it conputes now, 512 lift.
The cam is the comp. cams 210----220 and
480 lift with 112 separation.
A good thing is that I have a 0,051 head gasket and Trick Flow say; 512 lift with
238 duration and 106 separation will work.
I don`t wont to take heads off to measure
the clearance.
Do I dare to start the engine?
Anyone with this heads and 512 lift in the intake, who knows it will work?
Thanks
Ben

I think you'll be fine with that lift.
I'd remove all the spark plugs and turn the engine over slowly with a breaker bar on the crankshaft. That would be the only way that I know of to check it without removing your heads. This would also be a good time to check valve spring retainer to rocker arm clearance and for coil bind.

Well, Iīve turned the engine over a few times
to adjust the valve lash and it turned OK
only a little harder in some parts of the turn.....
Still woih hidraulic lifters is difficult to
know the clearance.....
Does anyone have 512 lift in the intake with
these TFS G 1 heads?
Thanks

all of the SBCs i've checked would need .65 or so before there is a problem. lot depends on head and gaskets. i always check mine withoutthe gasket so i have a little extra insurance if it's close.

You can also check it by using a very light spring or like only a inner spring. Mount a dial indicator with magnetic base. Place the tip of the indicator on the top of the valve stem. At this point zero the indicator. Now push down until you hit the cylinder. This is how much space you have. Subtract your cam's valve lift and now you have the distance remaining. I can't recall what the minimum required is I think like .060 inch. or mabey that is coil bind min, not sure. Oh yeah, make sure your piston that you are measuring on is at top dead center.
