Balance, and SCAT cranks.

Hello

Im looking at this crank from SCAT http://www.scatcrankshafts.com/stock...tcranks02.html
The "9-10526" - Late Model One-Piece Rear Seal for my 1991 vette.
And to go with this I will use TRW fordge pistons, and stock rods with ARP bolts ( yes resized ).

The webpage say "Balanced and Ready to Install Straight Out of the Box" ? Does that mean it has the same balance as my stock L98 crank? I will of course rebalance the hole rotating assemby cause I got new TRW fordge pistons. But does this mean trouble for my and my mech when its time to balance it? Im I going to need alot of heavy metal due to this??

Thanks

Yes, neutral balance, as I think all 350 cranks are. You may be confusing this with the oft mentioned 383 cranks.

Late model SCAT cranks have an odd balance....technically they are half internal(neutral) half externally balanced! I ran into this problem when I was trying to get my flexplate. Apparently the front (balancer) is neutral where the back(flexplate) is weighted. I called SCAT and they told me that's how all late-model, 1pc engines are.

As for being balanced out of the box...If you want a reliable motor that puts out the most power, have your entire rotating assembly balanced. They probly mean that it is balanced the same as a stock cranks, and that if you used stock rods/pistons (or a combo that weighted the exact same) then you *shouldn't* have to balance it.

Be safe...have it balanced.

Yes my stock crank is zero balanced at the front, but external at ( in my case ) the flywheel.
I will have to rotating assembly balanced. I just dont what to ad alot of heavy metal.

...Then run light rods/pistons
