fuel pump

I was wondering when its a good time to change a fuel pump. The car has 71 thousand miles on it and its an 82. It was also sitting outside for 6 months before i got it.

its running pretty good. It stalls when its hot and it seems like its not getting enough fuel to the engine. Someone told me its always good to change the fuel pump when the car gets older it helps it run better.

Have you had a tune-up lately? Have you replaced the fuel filter? On a cross-fire the fuel pump may be in the fuel tank. Not that easy to change.

Don't just guess, Get a fuel presure tester and if it falls in the required range it shouln't need one. Unless your planing future mod's. You might change the fuel filter though, just to be sure it's good!

By any chance do u know the range of the pressure thats required? I have repalced a fuel pump before inside of a fuel tank in a fiero and with all the rusted brackets and bolts it was a bitch.

Should be something like 12-15 psi....

You'd want to test it under load; like hook up the gauge and tape it to the windshield and drive around.

I could be wrong, but I believe that on those cars, the filter is under the car near the tank.

Sure don't, sorry! All I have is my TBI (9-13) range. But I'm sure you can find out on here! Good luck!
