Engine Problems

Is it possible for oil to shhot out of the dipstick tube if there is too much oil in it? I am at a loss with this one. I really don't want to pull my engine and spent a lot of money if I don't have to.

Usually oil shooting out of the dipstick is caused by excessive pressure in the crankcase. Do you currently have a pcv and a breather installed in the valve covers?

Yes, I do have a pcv and breather on my valve covers. Do I need to replace these parts?

Damn this is old, it can't hurt to replace them they are really cheap, a couple of bucks. You might also want to replace the grommets also if they are broken or brittle.

You might also have serious engine problems, such as excessive blowby. If you feel ambitious you could do a compression or leak down test.

blow by is the rings letting air through into the crankcase or blowing by the rings etc...

Can also be seen as oil blowing by the rings into the combustion area... it will do it to a point, but excess blowby is bad...

Smell your oil fill hole in the valve cover. If blowby is bad enough to blow out the dipstick your oil should smell like gasoline.
