Changing the Master Cylinder, any tips?
My car aint stoppin right. There are no leaks, (the MC resivior is full of brake fluid...) so I am gonna change the master cylinder.
Any body got any tips for me before I dig into this this afternoon? I have been told that it shouldnt take more than an hour to do.
Thanks!

Fairly easy job. Make sure to bench bleed the new Master Cylinder. Don't do the bench bleed on the car, do it in a vise like the instructions say. This step is critical
Use a brake line wrench on the fittings to make sure you don't round a nut.
When I changed the Master Cylinder on my car a while back, I also took the proportioning valve off, took the springs out, and blew compressed air through it. After that, my car now stops like never before. I think the previous owner must have poured dirty fluid in the reservoir or something, because there was a little gunk in there.

Well,
I also have very few tools here with me, so I dont have a vise!
I wish that I could do the compressed air thing too.....
Any other advise?

hmm, well, the vise is used to hold the new master cylinder stationary so that you don't spill fluid while pumping the piston with a screwdriver. You could probably jimmy up some way to support the cylinder, maybe using a wall or something to push against if you don't have access to a vise.
compressed air is the only way I know of to clean out the proportioning valve though...
