Higher ratio rockers vs High Lift Cam

I was wondering why they are you using higher ratio rockers now. I think the new vette has 1:8 ratio. I know it adds lift but why do they not just grind more lift in cam. Is it cheaper this way? Or is the geometry better with the higher ratio rockers? I have 1:6s in my car. Thanks for any info

Generally speaking, a lower cam profile is more reliable from an automakers standpoint. It's not as hard on the cam and lifters.
