Starter Problem ???

I have just done a bunch of mods to my 89 IROC 5.7 and something peculiar has happening. The mods include new ACCELL 24# injectors, new ACCELL 8.8mm wires, new Bosch Platnum +4 plugs, TPI Air foil, BBK Adjustable Fuel Pressure regulator, K&N Air filters and removed the MAF screen. I have adjusted the TPS to factor setting and reset the IAC. I have an Accell 300+ digital ingnition and high performance Rotor and Cap to install this coming weekend.

The Car is running great. My problem is that once in awhile when I go to start it I turn the key and the start just goes "CLICK" > I back off the key and turn it again and it starts with no problem. Although it appears to happen when the car has been sitting for a while (cold) I think that it may have happened once when it was only off for a short time. I don't know if it's a battery connection or the starter? I had to jack the car up to do some of the plugs but I don't think I would have done anything to put pressure on the starter motor. As I said, when it happens, it always starts on the second try. Has anyone ever seen this?

Thanks in adavace for your replies.

M IROC ET, Its been my experience that when those symptoms happen its time to change the battery. That is given that the terminals to the battery and all the connections are clean and good and the starter and solenoid are also good. Have the battery checked at Sears. As a matter of fact for $5.00-$7.00 they will check your entire charging system and you don't have to buy their battery(can't beat that deal!!!). Good luck!

You can get a battery post cleaning tool at your local auto parts store, or Wal-mart.

Replace the std 11 plate battery with a 13 plate. Much more reliable and grunty!
