Modified Air Intake ????

I have done a search and to no avail. I was not able to find answers to what I am looking for. So, does anyone have any pics of a modified stock firebird air intake housing? I want to do this simple mod, but would like pics so I can see exactly how it is to be done.

TIA

John

If your looking to modify your stock setup, first thing to do is buy a K&N, then simple with a circle saw maybe a 1-1.5" and drill some holes in it to increase flow. Some people have cut away the bottom or sides but the hole saw method works well and is fairly easy. I just added a whole new section of tube to replace the stock piece that has an open element on the backside.

did you have to move your battery to another spot? I thought about doing that same set-up....but..I don't feel like moving my battery somewhere else...

From looking at the picture, it looks like his battery is on the driver side where the Firebirds and T/A's batteries are located.

on firebirds, the batt is on the drivers side

on camaros its on the passenger side...

you could do the mirror image of what he has...

athough, the stock camaro TPI intake flows great already.

Yeah the Camaros stock intake was the reason they were rated 5HP higher than the Firebird, they breath a little better, still room for improvement. Battery is on the drivers side as stated. What is good about this is I did not have to move my smog canister. Eventually I will add a little more tubing and cut a hole through the sheetmetal right underneath that cannister to extend it down and make it a true CAI.
