ENGINE OIL COOLER

Is this possible? My IROC has the aux. oil
cooler option, it seems like this might be
starting to devolope a leak, I notice a
dampness aroud the fitting on the filter
housing, I also see that this circulates
water from the rad., there are rubber
hoses from the rad. and then go to metal
under the front of the engine to the
filter housing and back. Ques. would it be
possible to remove this system and replace
it with a after market type oil cooler
system, does anyone think this would work
better, worse, or at least the same.
Thanx for any replies.

Is it leaking oil or coolant fluid? You could probably find one in the bone yard or check thirdgenresouce.com. Have you called the dealership for new tubes? I understand if you run synthetic you really don't need one. They took it off the vette when they started putting Mobil One in. They actually serve two purposes, quickly warm the oil up to operating temperature, then maintain the oil at a more stable temp.

Thanks for the reply Rob P, it is oil, not
really leaking bad but kind of seeping,
makes more of a mess around that area but
don't want it to get worse, and yes I am
running Mobil 1. Plus I really don't like
the possibility of a coolent leak happening
unexpectently either thats way I was
wondering if this system as it is was
really necessary and if one of the after
market systems such as Hayden or other
would work just as well. (Thanks Rob P)
