codes

My service engine light came on the other day, then went off. Later I got the codes they came up 44 and 53. This cars only been on the road for 3 weeks now. Its an 89 GTA with 5.7/auto. If anyone could tell me what these are and possible fixes id appreciate it.

why don't you by a manual for ecm controls, mine is called "eletronic emission controls" by chiltons, it doesn't sound like what it is. it'd have a break down of all the codes for you car and engine and the trouble shooting flow down sheet along with the voltages and such you'd need to trouble shoot it.

High voltage at exhaust gas recirculation valve OR
Voltage reference error OR
Problem at vehicle anti-theft system

44. Oxygen sensor lean
the faq page has this info on it,,
your o2 sensor wire is probably melted thats why you are getting these codes,, replace the o2 sensor..
