4/7 swap cam

Just wondering if anybody had ever tried a 4/7 firing order swap cam. I have noticed that they have finally made some that were not so ratical. I was thinking of trying one in my weekend driver.

You could do that, but in a theoretical vein. I've never been completely convinced that the 4/7 swap is any kind of advantage. It merely moves the adjacent firing cylinders to the opposite corner of the engine, and places three sequentially firing holes on the same end of the crank (and same set of bearings). Maybe not the greatest for durability.

Discussed before in TPI, and since you are runnig FI I'll ask here as well, why? It was done mainly in order to releive a fuel starvation problem in the carb equipped cars. Durability could be an issue, that's why it stayed mainly on the track.

We don't have that problem in FI and if you further break down the airflow into runners such as tpi, you really shouldn't have any air problems either. This would be something to look into if you wanted to eek out as many ponies as possible, but if you don't want the radical lifts, you probably don't want the cam.

Hey automec, have you though about doing the 2/3 as well to further balance everything out? Never tried this, but I'vehead good things. What are you running for a setup?
