Valve stem seals
My valve covers were suppose to be fixed be my dad's mechanic but he just barely looked at it and also didnt change the brakes wrong.....Well my car is smoking alot now because it had been stopped for a year...How hard is it to change the valve covers and the valve stem seals???Where can i buy the seals(can anyone give me a list of stuff i will need to buy from jegs or summit).....Also can i do it myself?

not hrd to change if you have a little mechanical talent. you can buy the gaskets and seals anywhere. i use the o ring and the unbrella seal both. you'll need the common hand tools, plus a valve spring compressor to remove springs on the engine and a air compressor and fitting to keep air in the cylinder while you change the seals.

felpro makes a "viton" valve seal that works great. it holds up under extremes, but they are a real pain to install. much harder to get down the stem than factory type.
