What Valve Covers do I need?
I have a 1990 Camaro with the 305 5.0 L in it. All catalogues and even GM says I need centerbolt valve covers for the 1990, but then I look in the engine, and notice my valve covers are NOT centerbolt. I am guessing the previous owner must have done something. Now, I dont know which covers to order from Jegs...
Here is a pic of the valve covers on now (disregard the circle, thats for a diff post)... what would be a good aluminum valve cover replacement? What company makes it? What bolt pattern? breather hole location? etc...?

If more pictures are needed, I can get them tommorow...
All help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How about a set like these?
THey're GM.... Corvette L98 ones. They have all the proper hookups, LEAK FREE, for PCV, with correct baffling; and THEY FIT.
And you can even install them right, instead of backwards like that one in the pic, which is flipped around the wrong way. In fact I'll bet you have some mystery valve ticking noise.... and I'll also bet it will go away, or at least decrease, if you put the ones you have on the car right.

Regarding the valve ticking, luckily I dont have any.
Anyone else with opinions or advice?

ive seen an adapter in summit that allows you to use regular valve covers on a centerbolt head. the only way your going to know for sure is to take the valve covers off and see if theres holes in the center of the heads or if they are on the side. if they are on the side then he swapped heads.

Because the VCs aren't symmetrical....
The exhaust side of the VC "leans in" toward the top more than the intake side does (the intake side "stands up" straighter); so the push rod end of the rockers will usually hit the inside of the VC if they're put on backwards.

Yea, you have pre-87 heads on that engine. You need to get perimiter bolt valve covers like those RB showed you. Those aluminum L98 valve covers look really nice IMO, and since they are aluminum, they are less likely to leak because they won't warp if the bolts are overtightened like steel ones will.
