Easy Question, 1.6 rocker related

Hey, question for everyone that you can probably answer in your sleep. Would the gains i get by upgrading to 1.6 roller rockers (probably the $120 stamped steel ones from summit) be worth the $$ and time it takes to put them on? No problem on the install, several of my buds are mechanics.
I would be putting these on after headers/testpipe/catback and doing open element and ultimate TBI mods, cause I'm sure they wouldn't help much without better breathing. Would they maybe give me a little more in the midrange, sine the stock wussy cam kinda craps out in the department? Thanks for any input!

i guess you ought to see some improvement but i doubt if it'd be much. with stock cam the 1.6 rockers will only get you around .020 more lift. i think you'd be ahead to spend the money on a cam. a lot of people go with the rockers because it's fast and easy.

yeah, fast and easy was the idea, but i'd never done the math to see if it'd be that much of an improvement. Oh well, thanks for the ever so important details/numbers!

I Have Crane Energizer 1.6 roller rockers
you will need guide plates for any roller rocker under 300$ But its only 30$ more.
I gained about 300rpm on the top and im sure some on the bottem nothing really noticeable.
the claim is 20+hp from installing these so its up to you to decide if its worth it.
88 should have a roller cam would be neat to have a full roller set!

Going from 1.5 to 1.6 ratio rockers will give you roughly .030" more lift, enough to feel it in the seat of your pants.

I'm still up in the air about it, but its still a possible summer project. As you can imagine, that'd be a very welcome 20 HP, i really wish this motor had more top end. Plus i do like the idea of being full roller. Think with the 1.6 RR's, Ultimate TBI mods, shift kit, headers/test pipe/80 series and 3.55s i could run high 14's/low 15's? I know people hate it when they get asked this though so ya don't have to answer if you don't want to. Just a nosy rookie thats all
