as long as its not blue, your fine. black... just running a bit rich, there could be one of any number of reasons for this. what engine do you have? someone else will tell you what the white smoke is from.. its on te tip of my tongue, but cant remember.

Black smoke = rich mixture

Blue smoke = probably bad valve seals allowing oil to run down the valve stems when the engine is off and burning off when the car is started.

White smoke = aahhhhhh.... good ol' coolant leak. Bad juju.

I know my car is leaking coolant in the front of the car to the ground. Could that be my problem? Thanks

Nope, leaking on the ground won't cause white smoke. You would either have a leak under your intake manifold or a head gasket.

Not into your cylinders it wouldn't, that's where the coolant is going and causing the white smoke. It's coming from one of the two places I mentioned: from the intake manifold or a bad head gasket. Either way it's some good coin or more than a few hours...

murphs, just to clear it up, he's saying you will need to replace the head gaskets and/or the intake manifold gaskets. if you have any mechanical know-how, or know someone that can help you out with it, then do it yourself, if not, then take it to a garage. running rich will not hurt your car, just worse gas mileage.
