i got my truck out this weekend but i have a problem with my starter. it sounds like the starter gear is skipping over the flywheel sometimes. i shimmed the starter to be closer to the flywheel twice and it still does it. the starter is a stock one that i have had on here for about 3 years, and i moved the battery to the bed this winter if that makes a difference. i tried a bigger battery, the napa optima clone, and the problem is still there. the motor seems to barely turn over, like the battery is weak or something. i am going to take the shims out tommorrow, tues, and see what happens. if that doesn't work i have to take the motor out to get the starter out. that's not the end of the world, but it's a huge pita.
