gaskets question

These are probably stupid questions, so please bear with me. I just got a set of headers, do I need to use any rtv or anything on the gaskets? Also, is there a gasket needed between the engine and tranny?

RTV copper can withstand 700 * of heat. Thats what some of the fourth gen guys are using. This is in conjunction with a real gasket that is.

I have never used anything when it comes to sealant or whatnot, just a copper gasket from SCE.

Exactly.... there's no need fro sealer on those, of any kind. Use a good quality gasket; the Fel Pro header hadkets, Mr G Ultra-Seal or their copper ones, the copper or aluminum ones from some of the specialty people, etc.; installt hem properly, make sure the bolts are tight, and re-tighten them after a couple of heat-cool cycles. Sealer won't improve anything, and may even create a failure where there isn't one otherwise.

Well, you could use Permatex Hylomar or Copper, but you would have to have a reason for it as well as expect to clean up a mess if you ever have to pull it apart again.
