air conditioning compresser?

My air compressor squeeks like a mother but only when its cold or humid outside. If i drip some oil into where the tip of the green arrow is it will stop for a few seconds. Is that the bearings that are in there? Are they easy to change?

John,

There is a bearing in the clutch hub to allow the sheave to spin freely when the clutch is disengaged. The clutch assembly comes with a new bearing. If you've been oiling this area, the clutch plate itself is probably soaked in oil now, making a new clutch a good holiday gift idea for all your buds. Start dropping hints. With the proper tools, the clutch can be changed with the compressor on the engine, and without evacuating the refrigerant in the system, so the cost should be reasonable.
