Can I get a mechanical that lights up with my lights?

I'd say go with mechanical only if you're racing. If it's a street cruiser and/or still pretty stock go electrical. Racers will laugh at you if you show up with electric gauges in a "race" car, but if it's not for competition, electric will do fine IMO.

Any gauge should come with a light that you just need to wire into the circuit that your other gauges use (hot when light's are on)

Either one will work fine for you. I prefer mechanical gauges because they can be more accurate and dependable. The only thing about a mechanical oil pressure gauge is that you will have to run an oil line to the gauge, not a big deal, but some people get nervous about having an oil line running into their instrument panel. I use a stainless braided line for extra measure. Which ever way you go, they both will have a light that you can wire in with your headlights/IP lights.

You can buy a mechanical trans temp gauge? I thought they only made electrical? I also run mechanical gauges in my car (oil press & water temp)- what a mess I had when the oil press gauge leaked at it's fitting!
