Why GM makes cars and I don't >
Couldn't get the wipers to work on the Caprice. In summation, tried a bunch of things, including testing the motor, ended up being a bad motor, go figure..
Macgyver's mistakes: Using speaker wire to test the motor, cutting the wiper switch wires, removing the steering wheel about 6 times testing different things.
GM's advantages:
79 Camaro and 87 Caprice wiper motors are the same, even if one doesn't have pulse wipers, the motor still works, just not in pulses.
88 Cavalier and 87 Caprice steering wheels are interchangeable.
The window motor is still in GREAT shape after 14 years.
Super glue can fix a broken heater switch.
<HR>
So in conclusion, the Caprice is running GREAT (damn near as fast at the RS, that's probably a bad thing).
Everything, including the wipers, works, total cost:
$20 Cavalier steering wheel.
$64 new power window switch and door lock switch.
$500 for the car, and an 85 Caprice parts car.
Stuff stolen from the 79:
Wiper motor
Door jamb switch
Vaccum lines.
Lock this if you must, just let me feel content for a bit
Mac is in a good mood
