do i have an aftermarket cam?

hey, i just purchased a L98 long block and i am going to rebuild it. i herd it run and it sounded like it might have a cam in it and on the valve covers it has crane cam stickers on them, but i just dont know. Since i am tearing the block apart and the cam will soon be out is there any marking on it that would tell me if it was an aftermarket cam?

Thanks for any info.

Maybe. Definitely maybe.

If it ran, it definitely had a cam in it though, you can be sure of that. Won't run without one.

Once you get it out, if it isn't obvious (probably won't be), post whatever numbers you find, and maybe somebody here will be able to decipher them.

The numbers hes talking about are on the camshaft itself.

When you heard it run was it with stock exhaust, no exhaust, or aftermarket exhaust??

The important markings, if aftermarket, are on the face of the cam directly behind the cam gear.
